BUG HIVE 2.0

After searching long and hard for a new central location on campus, BUG finally found a spacious home in the Hills Agricultural Building on Central Campus. Isn’t it gorgeous? As the space started to become a reality, we are slowly writing a “shop manifesto” which will intend to explain to students exactly what our intentions as a “Bicycle Education Center” rather than a full-service bicycle shop. We can’t be more thrilled about the space and the potential it has for workshops, movie nights and being able to get as many people acquainted with the way of bicycle. We are currently looking for volunteer student mechanics to come teach and work in the shop in exchange for open use of tools and workspace. As we progress on both construction and shop operations, we’ll fill you in. For now, here’s a little snapshot to get you stoked:

Loading Dock Shop Closed Indefinitely, New Shop Search In Motion

Unfortunately, our past shop location has been deemed unfit by UVM for public traffic due to it’s precarious position on campus. You’d think when we got the shop, they’d give us a space where people were welcome and could be easily accessed by needy bikers. We are actively looking and campaigning for a new space on campus. We have four prospects and are truly crossing our fingers tightly to secure one of them. Due to this fact, we are not going to be open for bike repairs this Fall. However, for an interim fix and ease of access to tools/repairs, we are currently looking into buying “fix-it” stations that will be located outside around campus. These will include some tools and a tire pump. This idea is not yet completely guaranteed, but we’re working on it!

The B.U.G. Bike Shoppe is open to all students for bike repairs of any size.  We’ve got a full let of bike tools and a knowledgeable group of volunteers that will enthusiastically meet all your bike maintenance questions with silky smooth answers during the following hours:

Monday: 11am-2pm

Tuesday: 11am-2pm

Wednesday: 11am-2pm

Thursday: 11am-2pm

Friday: 11am-2pm BIKE SHOP ON THE QUAD! look for us near the library

The shop is located in the loading dock area of the Davis Center, just ride or walk down the ramp on the lake side of Davis that goes underneath New World Tortilla.  We’re just inside the set of double doors to the left of the cargo bays.  You can also ask for directions at the first floor desk at the Davis Center.

As always, the shop is open to all students free of charge.
